The Long Riders' Guild

Heinrich Tettenborn and Monika Koch are making an astonishing journey from Mongolia to Austria!

Heinrich Tettenborn and Monika Koch are riding from Mongolia through China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy to Austria.  In 2004 they rode from the Changai Mountains to Khovd on three native Mongolian horses, Thuja, Tinger and Bold.

Waking up in the colourful Tien Shan

"As the Chinese Government opened Xinjiang only recently for individual travel, there were very few guidebooks available in which we could find information about the route we wanted to take. We had seen only very few pictures and had no clear idea how the Tien Shan mountains would be like. So our journey was a real discovery for us. Also the people on our way were very surprised to see foreigners and invited us over and over." Click here to read more about this fascinating journey:
